Which type of yoga is a good place for a beginner to start?
For many beginners, a foundational Hatha class is an excellent place to start because the pace usually gives enough time to learn basic asanas, understand alignment and notice the relationship between movement and breath. Gentle beginner classes can also be appropriate, and the right choice depends on your body, health and interests.
There is no single style scientifically proven to be “the beginner style.” What matters is whether the teacher can adapt the practice and whether you have enough space to learn rather than merely keep up.
Start where awareness can remain present. You can explore stronger, faster or more specialised practices once the foundations feel familiar.
